I love the community that Scouts builds, that I can travel across the world and have this thing in common with people from all sorts of backgrounds and cultures. I love that we’re all a big family and that extends to our capacity to create change. |
Since starting as a seven-year-old Cub Scout Meg Cummins has embraced every opportunity Scouts has offered. In 2023, at the age of 25, she represented the World Organisation of the Scout Movement (WOSM) at the United Nations. "What really developed me was the time I had at my local Scout Group and the time I spent with all the people who were just like me, trying to navigate being a kid, trying to navigate being in a changing world where everything seemed to be going wrong, trying to navigate how I could actually be a better person and Scouting was always that avenue for me to create change, to build my relationships with people, to build my capacity as a Leader and as a team member." Scouts is your child's greatest opportunity to build leadership skills, self-confidence and resilience, assets that will be important during their adulthood and career. |
Did you know Scouts do more than just bushwalking?
All ages of Scouts engage in cycling, canoeing, kayaking, swimming, boating, rockclimbing, abseiling, alpine, aviation, performing arts, leadership and more, along with the traditional Scouting activities of bushcraft, bushwalking, and camping.

Research proves it: Scouts helps make better peopleScouts helps children become better and more confident adults, helping to set them up for healthy and fulfilling career and life. According to our research, children in Scouts are more confident in social situations, better at networking, and are better at showing initiative and problem solving than those who are not in Scouts. They enjoy school and respect rules more, and have a greater sense of purpose. Most importantly, children in Scouts report having better physical and mental health, more self-understanding and a healthier self-awareness than their non-Scout peers.
