Nine lucky teenagers from 1st Lismore Scout Group were able to have a fun, challenging and muddy time at the 26th Australian Jamboree in January thanks to the generosity of the James Frizelle Charitable Foundation.

The Foundation granted $9045 to help the Scouts and Venturer Scouts make their way to the biggest Scout camp in Australia held in Maryborough, Queensland.

The teenagers agreed that alongside the fun and chances to make new friends across Australia and other parts of the world, they also learned a lot about themselves and life.

“Being part of a Duty Patrol which was responsible for cooking, maintenance, and housekeeping for the whole Unit taught me teamwork, grew my leadership abilities and practical skills,” Rocco, 13, said.

“I enjoyed taking part in the mud run, the swimming activities and visiting Maryborough. AJ2025 was an amazing experience I will remember for the rest of my life.”

Jasmine, 16, said she grew from AJ2025 because she got to have experiences she would not have had without it.

“Like being with 10,000 other people sharing the same adventure, learning together, and developing our Scouting skills like courage, communication, and new and improving skills such as abseiling, climbing, stand-up paddleboarding, being involved in the community and teamwork,” she said.

“I now have seen how Scouts brings youth and adults together sharing similar interests within Scouting as a whole, and how people from all over the world can come together and connect. Having experienced a big Scouting event, makes me enjoy everything that Scouts has to offer even more.”

Thank you to the James Frizelle Charitable Foundation for your support!
