Become a Leader!
Leaders are the lifeblood of the Scouting Movement, doing their part to support thousands of young people to grow and develop through Scouts.
As an organisation run by more than 3800 volunteer Leaders, there’s no stressing how important they are to Scouting. There are many reasons to become an Adult Leader — helping young people to achieve their goals provides immense personal satisfaction, and your sense of personal achievement is nearly as strong as theirs when you help them overcome a hurdle!
Scouting offers adults a host of rewarding opportunities to help make a difference in young people’s lives. You’re never too old to join the adventurous life of Scouting, even if you haven’t been involved before. If you're an energetic person who thrives in a positive, supportive atmosphere and enjoys helping young people be the best they can be, then consider becoming an Adult Leader.
The Value of Leadership
Being an Adult Leader in Scouting has lots of benefits that go beyond giving back to others. Not only does it have a positive impact on the lives of young people, but it can also improve your health and relationships with others! In fact, research shows a correlation between wellbeing, happiness, health, and longevity and those people who participate in volunteer activities like being a Leader. The experience of helping others gives people meaning, a sense of self-worth, a social role and health enhancement, which makes them feel more involved in their local communities, and more connected to others.
With new experiences also comes endless opportunities for skill development, opening up doors to career progression and other opportunities beyond Scouting.
