Employed positions
The Region Support Officer is fundamental in the delivery of primary office and administrative support for the Region/s and is the primary interface between the Region/s and the State Service Centre for administrative matters.
The Region Support Officer also supports the relevant Region Commissioner/s and plays a vital role in developing the profile of Scouting in the community and building organisational support and membership within the Region/s. The position is a key facilitator of the growth and development of Scouting within the Region/s.
The position will establish and foster effective communication channels between Region and State Service Centre to ensure the success of functions and activities as they relate to membership services, finance, property, people issues, public relations, and marketing.

The Program Manager Outdoor Education is fundamental in the contribution between operational requirements and strategic planning, working in collaboration with the existing Baden-Powell Team to deliver high-quality programming, customer engagement and training.
This position leverages the Activity Centre’s unique location to build capability to ensure the site can reach its full potential within the outdoor education market. With tangible goals and the full backing of Scouts NSW, the Program Manager will be integral to achieving results within NSW’s outdoor education framework.
Success will be realised through (but not limited to) delivering exceptional educational camp programming and delivery coupled with exploring training opportunities, both in house for Scouts NSW and externally. Ongoing and continual improvement through this position will be crucial to adapting to market needs and organisational priories.

The Groundskeeper is fundamental in ensuring the buildings, facilities and grounds at Cataract Activity Centre are consistently maintained and well presented for Customers, Scouts Members, Parents, Volunteers, staff, and other visitors/ users to enjoy.
Responsibilities:
Maintenance
- Regularly mow and trin lawns and edges.
- Clean debris from paths, grassed areas, flowerbeds, and all entrances.
- Weed, and water gardens.
- Liaise with the Site Manager & Caretaker to prepare the grounds in response to bushfire risk in accordance with guidelines set out by the Rural Fire Service.
- Ensure drains are clear to prevent flooding over roads and pathways.
- Report damage or defects to the Site Manager & Caretaker so that arrangements can be made to make repairs.
- Keep all surfaces fee of moss and weeks.
- Clean pits and drains regularly in toilet blocks.
- Ensure all outdoor areas are letter free, recycle materials where appropriate.

Essential Selection Criteria
- Current Working With Children Check and National Police Check or willing to obtain
- Current Senior First Aid and CPR or willing to obtain
- Experience working with children or young people or relevant experience in adventurous activities or a Current qualified Scout Leader
- Must have own transport

Volunteer positions
Are you a Rover Scout looking to challenge yourself with a leadership position? Do you have excellent time management and organisational skills? The State Rover Council needs you to take on their secretary role.
The secretary acts as a point of contact for the SRC, prepares the agenda and minutes for SRC meetings, represents the SRC as a delegate at the State AGM and compiles the SRC Annual Report.

Assistant Chief Commissioner People is seeking expressions of interest for diversity and inclusion project patrol members.
D&I Commissioners in the State and Regional teams will be invited to join the patrol.
We seek additional members with specific experience and knowledge to collectively cover all areas of diversity, including age, gender, sexual orientation, religion, culture, race, all abilities(physical, neurological and cognitive), work experience, education, and caring responsibilities.
This patrol is tasked with completing actions aligned with the Scouts NSW strategic plan, including but not limited to:
- Establish & commence implementation of the Scouts NSW Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP). Note: this is separate from the Scouts Australia RAP
- Review and recommend inclusion aspects on Scouts NSW policies and procedures.
- Review and recommend inclusion aspects for Scouts NSW events and activities including property and equipment.

Currently the Scouts NSW Air Activity Centre (AAC) offers an activity approximately every fortnight (generally Sundays). With additional volunteers the AAC has the potential to increase the number of activity weekends.
Air Activity Centre welcomes volunteers both with and without specialist skills and experience - if you have a love for aviation and working in a team, please get in touch!
All our volunteers are part of a warm, welcoming and enthusiastic team of Leaders, Adult Helpers, Venturers and Rovers. Everyone receives training on each activity including safety. New members are teamed up with one of our experienced volunteers so that they too will become proficient in participating in and leading with the roles below:
Ground Activities Team
The following is not exhaustive however included in the role of our ground activities team undertake is:
- Assist in setting up for the day
- Supervise on aerodrome walks – This entails guiding small groups through the airport identifying and includes explaining the different types of aircraft and their uses, the various infrastructure (control tower, windsock, weather station, refuelling area, aerodrome markings etc) observing aircraft movements along taxiways, run up area (checking of all systems and moving surfaces before departure), take offs and landings.
- Loading/unloading passengers
- Assist the visiting Groups in the design and construction of gliders and a flyoff competition
- Supervise the use of flight simulators
- Assist where required pilots in manoeuvring the aircraft/refuelling
- Assist in readying the Centre for the next activity day.
Activity Centre Pilot
There is one other volunteering role which anyone from within the Scouting family (Leader, adult helper, parent/guardian or member of staff) with the appropriate proven training, qualifications and skills and that is the role of an volunteer Activity Pilot.
These individual(s) will as a minimum hold an existing Commercial Pilot Licence. Of course, acceptance would require any interested party to meet the very high standard and other requirements to become a Scout Activity Pilot.
We also invite those with general interest in aviation to get in touch to discuss opportunities to get involved in the Air Activity Centre.

Glenrock Scout Camp (Hunter & Coastal Region) is currently looking for additional volunteers to support the Camp Committee on site.
Glenrock volunteers meet every Thursday onsite from 9am to 3pm. The role includes general maintenance, some examples of tasks include light gardening, mowing, painting, blowing /sweeping leaf litter from paths, minor carpentry ie fixing tables, beds, adjusting door locks and latches. Morning tea supplied and BYO lunch.
